Europe — Extraordinary EU summit on the Ceuta crisis — Interior ministers from the 27 countries met in extraordinary session following the Ceuta migration crisis, at the request of 22 countries with Italy and Denmark taking the lead. Commission President von der Leyen reiterated the need for a united European response. At least 88 migrants died attempting to swim to Spain from Morocco. Italy — Rome reintroduces border checks with Spain — The Meloni government has reintroduced checks on ships and aircraft arriving from Spain for one month, following the entry of tens of thousands of migrants into Ceuta.
