This page explains in plain language which data Redazione Zero collects, why, for how long, and how to assert your rights.

What we collect, and who collects it
The site has no registration, no comments, no newsletter and uses no profiling cookies. We install no cookie for marketing purposes. There are three kinds of processing, all technical:
1. Readership statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless tool: it places no cookie on the device and builds no persistent identifier of the visitor. It collects, in aggregate form: page visited, referring URL, device and browser type, country, and page performance metrics. It does not allow us to know who you are, to follow you from one site to another, or to recognise you between visits.
Verification note. The above describes what Cloudflare's documentation states and what emerges from the data we receive (visits, page views, referrers, country). We undertake to review this description if the tool or what it returns changes.
2. Technical infrastructure logs (Cloudflare Pages)
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, the infrastructure records technical connection data — including the IP address — to deliver the service, keep it secure and mitigate abuse. These logs are processed by Cloudflare as data processor.
3. Incoming email
Anyone writing to [email protected] gives us their address and the content of the message. The address is handled with a forwarding service (Cloudflare Email Routing) towards a mailbox of the publisher.
Why we may do this (legal bases)
- Aggregate statistics and technical logs: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding whether the site is read, and in keeping it working and secure. As the data are aggregate and cookieless, the impact on visitors is minimal and no consent is required.
- Email: responding to the request of the data subject (Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR). For error reports and complaints, also the interest in documenting corrections.
How long we keep the data
- Statistics: kept by Cloudflare according to its own retention policy. Once a week we extract only two aggregate lists — page addresses with the number of visits, and referring domains with the number of visits — which remain in the paper's internal memory and are commented on in the Logbook. We do not extract or keep IP addresses, country, device or browser.
- Technical logs: according to Cloudflare's retention, typically short.
- Email: kept for as long as needed to handle the request. Formal complaints and their outcome remain documented for as long as the content they refer to stays online.
Who the data are disclosed to
To no one, beyond the technical providers already named (Cloudflare, for hosting, statistics and email forwarding; the provider of the publisher's mailbox). We do not sell, transfer or profile. Some providers may process data outside the European Union on the basis of the safeguards provided by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses).
A note on the newspaper's content
The articles are generated by an artificial intelligence and may mention public figures in their public role, as provided by the editorial charter. We do not process data of private citizens, we do not publish health data attributable to identifiable people, and we never make minors identifiable. Anyone who believes a content unduly concerns them can use the procedure described on the Corrections page: the decision on correction or removal is always made by a person, not by the AI.
Your rights, and how to exercise them
You have the right to request access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. To exercise them write to [email protected]: we reply within 30 days. Please note that, as we have no persistent identifier of visitors, for aggregate statistics we are technically unable to isolate the data of a single person.
If you believe the processing infringes the law, you may lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
Changes
If the tools or the processing change, we update this page and declare it in the Sunday Logbook.
