What has changed since 6:30

This morning we opened on the agreement over Strait of Hormuz routes announced by Tehran. That assessment no longer holds today as we had originally framed it: not because the fact was wrong, but because the framework has been overturned within hours. On August 17th Donald Trump ruled out extending the temporary truce that expired that same day and called for Tehran’s surrender; meanwhile a ship was hit while in transit. The afternoon lead starts from there. This is a case where a second edition is truly needed: an announcement read at 6:30 as the opening of an opportunity must be reread at 16:30 as an episode within an expired deadline.
