Zandvoort, Norris wins the last Dutch race and Antonelli extends his lead to 59 points

The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix ended with victory for Lando Norris, who started from pole position and finished ahead of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell. The two Ferraris completed the race in fourth and fifth position, with Lewis Hamilton ahead of Charles Leclerc (Motorbox; Quotidiano Motori).
The race lasted only a few metres for the most anticipated driver on the home track: Max Verstappen retired on the first lap after an incident that led to the red flag being shown and the race being suspended (Motorbox; Il Giornale Digitale). In total five cars retired: besides Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas, Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll and Oliver Bearman also failed to finish (Quotidiano Motori).
The result weighs above all on the overall standings. With his second place, Antonelli rises to 242 points and extends his margin over the closest chasers, Russell and Hamilton, tied at 183, to 59 points. Norris, despite the win, remains fourth with 159 points, ahead of Leclerc on 155 (Motorbox; Il Giornale Digitale). The gap is wide, but the season is not over: the day’s dossier does not include the number of races still to be held, and on this point the calculation of remaining points cannot be verified.
There is also a factor concerning the calendar rather than the standings. Zandvoort leaves the championship after 2026: the decision rests with the event organiser, who chose not to renew the agreement (Motorbox; Quotidiano Motori). The Dutch race had returned to the championship in 2021 after a decades-long absence, driven by the following built around the home driver; the edition just held is therefore the last one scheduled, and the last image of the track for the local audience is the immediate retirement of their own driver.
On the precise circumstances of the first-lap incident, the three sources consulted do not provide consistent details, and no documents from the sporting authorities appear in the material available: any possible rulings by the stewards cannot be verified at the time of publication.
The championship’s next round is the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit, scheduled from 4 to 6 September (Il Giornale Digitale).
