Two envoys in Moscow, a vote in Saxony-Anhalt, a clay envelope

We open from the Kremlin because yesterday, September 5, Vladimir Putin received Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and today the two US envoys are expected in Kyiv. It is Witkoff’s eighth working visit to Russia. The piece also states what we do not know: the Kremlin spokesman declined to disclose which proposals were on the table, and on the content of the talks the available sources are largely Russian. The second story of the day is a vote: Saxony-Anhalt elects its ninth Landtag with fifteen regional lists and roughly 1.69 million eligible voters. That figure is an estimate built on population data as of December 31, 2024, and is stated as an estimate in the piece. On Health the scope is narrow: the WHO published on September 1 an updated emergency guide on the potential use of Ervebo against the Bundibugyo strain. No advice, no cure announced: for that species there are currently no specific vaccines or treatments.
