Cernobbio wraps up with clash between leaders, tonight the train strike begins

The Forum organised by TEHA Group - The European House Ambrosetti closed at Villa d’Este, in Cernobbio, with the clash between Italian political leaders. The theme running through the positions was the usual one on the eve of a budget session: who guarantees continuity and who offers an alternative.

According to the Torresette press review, Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein assured that the centre-left would be ready “whenever the vote is called.” Giuseppe Conte revived the debate on the alternative. From the centre-right, the stability of the government was reaffirmed as the central issue.

From 9.18pm, the trains

The concrete fact that readers will encounter before any statement arrives tonight. Some autonomous trade unions have called a national strike of railway staff at the FS Italiane group from 9.18pm on Monday 7 September to 9pm on Tuesday 8 September. According to the Torresette press review, the action also involves Italo and Trenord.

Possible consequences include cancellations and changes to high-speed, long-distance and regional trains. For regional transport, weekday guaranteed service bands apply: from 6am to 9am and from 6pm to 9pm on Tuesday 8 September.
