This morning’s edition covered sport with tennis. The new development of the past few hours is instead football-related: the second evening of the first matchday of the Champions League league phase closed with six matches, twenty-two goals and no draws (Quotidiano Sportivo; Lifestyleblog).
At the Maradona, Massimiliano Allegri’s Napoli lost 0-1 to Arsenal. The decisive goal came from Martin Ødegaard in the 75th minute. It is the only close result among those involving top-tier teams: on the other pitches the gap was wide.

For Barcelona, Adeyemi, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus found the net, the latter scoring his first goal for the Spanish club; for the Dutch side, Steijn scored. Paris Saint-Germain’s 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava featured a hat-trick from Ferran Torres, a brace from Dembélé and a goal from Fabián Ruiz (Oggi Sport Notizie).
Today the round concludes
The first matchday is completed today, Thursday 10 September, with six more matches. At 18.45 Roma play in Istanbul against Fenerbahçe and PSV host Shakhtar Donetsk. At 21.00 Como welcome RB Leipzig at the Sinigaglia: for the Lombard club it is their absolute debut in the competition. The same round also features Bayern Munich-Bodø/Glimt, Manchester United-Sabah and Slavia Prague-Lens (Tuttosport).
In the first two evenings, Inter lost in Madrid; the widest margin recorded so far remains PSG’s 6-1.
Outside Europe
On the same day, September 9, the South American cups were also played. In the Copa Libertadores, Fluminense beat Platense 2-0 with goals from Nonato in the 21st minute and Hulk in the 31st. In the Copa Sudamericana, Boca Juniors defeated São Paulo 1-0, while Santa Fe-Vasco ended goalless (Calcio Magazine).
In the Australia Cup, Melbourne Victory won 2-0 away against Sydney FC, securing qualification. In South Korea’s K League 1, the only away win of the day was Jeju SK’s over Gwangju. In the Youth League, Stuttgart beat Viking 5-0, replicating on a larger scale the first team’s result.
