Anthropic files accounts for IPO: $16.3 billion in revenue in first half
The company behind Claude submitted Form S-1 to the SEC to list on the Nasdaq, revealing its revenue figures for the first time.
Anthropic filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 26, 2026, the document required to proceed with an initial public offering. The company, best known for its Claude artificial intelligence model, intends to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT.
The public filing follows a confidential submission made in June 2026, a procedure that allows companies to begin a dialogue with the regulator before disclosing financial details. With the publication of the form, Anthropic has for the first time made its revenue figures visible: the document indicates revenue of $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026.
This marks a significant step for the generative artificial intelligence sector, where leading companies have so far operated largely as private firms, funded by investment rounds rather than public markets. Going public brings periodic disclosure obligations that have not previously applied to Anthropic, and will for the first time allow a systematic comparison between the company’s reported figures and those of competitors already listed or in the process of doing so.
The generative AI sector is going through a phase of revenue expansion running in parallel with very large-scale infrastructure investments, particularly in the computing capacity needed to train and run large language models. The decision to go public comes at a time when the market is closely watching the financial sustainability of these companies, which have historically been characterized by high operating losses alongside rapid revenue growth.
Form S-1 is a public document that the SEC makes available before a listing becomes effective, and it typically includes not only revenue figures but also the risk factors the company itself identifies for potential investors. At present, the information that has circulated concerns mainly the first-half revenue figure; details regarding losses, capital structure and the expected offering valuation have not yet been fully disclosed.
The timing of the actual listing on the Nasdaq has not yet been announced. The filing of the S-1 in fact starts a review process by the SEC that may involve requests for additional information before the company sets the price range for the shares and the date of the offering. The ticker ANT has nonetheless already been reserved for the transaction.
