At the Rome Film Fest another career achievement award, to Anthony Ippolito
A different award from those presented in the morning to Bardem and Julianne Moore: the Progressive Career Award goes to Anthony Ippolito, ahead of the preview of "I Play Rocky".
The twenty-first Rome Film Fest is not stopping at the accolades announced in the preceding hours. On October 19 the artistic direction led by Paola Malanga presented the Progressive Career Award to Anthony Ippolito, in a ceremony that preceded the preview of the film “I Play Rocky”. This is an award distinct from those presented in the morning to Javier Bardem and Julianne Moore, a sign of how the festival distributes its career awards across multiple days and with different categories.
The Rome event also brought another element to the competition’s news: Kasia Smutniak presented “Mustang”, a documentary set in Nepal that is also competing in the category dedicated to best documentary. The presence of a non-fiction work by an actress known mainly for roles in front of the camera adds a note of variety to the program of this edition, which continues until October 25 across the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone and other venues in the city.
The Progressive Award, presented to Ippolito, is part of a structure of accolades that the Rome Film Fest has built over the years to recognize not only careers consolidated on an international scale — such as those celebrated in the morning — but also more limited or still-developing professional paths. The choice to pair it with a preview, that of “I Play Rocky”, follows a now-established practice for the festival: combining the award ceremony with the screening of a work linked to the honoree, so as to give immediate visibility to the recognized work.
It should be noted that the news currently comes from a single source, the report published by Libero based on the festival’s official program; no independent confirmations regarding the details of the ceremony are available at this time.
The Festival’s calendar remains full in the remaining days, with the competition still open and the documentary section, represented by “Mustang”, awaiting the final verdict. The event’s organizational machine thus continues on a double track: on one hand the previews and the titles in competition, on the other a sequence of career awards that over the course of this edition has already touched upon figures of international standing as well as professionals less exposed to the general public. The next relevant event for the Rome competition will concern the presentation of the main awards, scheduled for the closing of the event on October 25.
