On 13 September a drone struck a truck near the Ukrainian border crossing of Jagodzin, about 800 metres from the Polish frontier; according to Gazeta.pl a service station was also involved and there are no reports of casualties. Poland scrambled fighter jets as a precaution and activated sirens and alerts for several dozen minutes in six districts of the Lublin voivodeship. Polish authorities stated that no object violated national airspace and that border traffic has returned to normal. El País places the episode near the Dorohusk-Yagodzin crossing.

Gazeta.pl also reports, citing a statement by Ukrzaliznytsia and information from the Polish Border Guard, that a drone struck the locomotive of the train on the Kyiv-Warsaw route. Checks at crossings in the Lublin voivodeship were temporarily suspended and then resumed.

On the night of 5 August 2026, a drone carrying about 600 grams of Semtex explosive was found at Leipzig-Halle Airport, its detonator having failed to function. According to journalistic investigations reported by Der Tagesspiegel, investigators link the organizer of the preparations to a Russian intelligence service and believe he is back in Russia; on an antenna structure used to pilot the aircraft, glove remains were found bearing DNA traces already on record in Finland and Lithuania. The federal government has attributed responsibility to Russia since 1 September, as reconstructed by Mimikama: a state attribution does not amount to a verdict, and the federal prosecutor's investigations continue.

The German government has announced the closure of the Russian Federation's consulate general in Bonn and the termination of the 2011 intergovernmental agreement on culture and information centres, resulting in the closure of the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin; sanctions at both EU and bilateral level have also been announced. On 12 September demonstrations took place in Hamburg and in more than 35 German cities, a week after the vote in Saxony-Anhalt where, according to the provisional result reported by NDR, the AfD won 43.8%. Organizers reported about 25,000 participants in central Hamburg; police had not initially provided an estimate, reports Die Zeit. The PRÜF initiative is calling on the Bundesrat to ask the Federal Constitutional Court to examine far-right parties (Die Zeit).
