A choppy session closed in positive territory on September 3 across the continent's markets, with Piazza Affari up 0.9 percent. Buying was supported by the retreat in bond yields on both sides of the Atlantic: the Italian ten-year opened at 4.20 percent after touching the previous day its highest levels since late 2023, the US ten-year stood at 4.76 percent after the three-year high on September 2, and the spread with the Bund fell to 83 basis points in the morning. The Friuli-based group announced a contract with GravitHy for the supply of an Energiron Zero Reformer direct reduction plant, intended to produce two million tons per year of hot compacted pre-reduced iron, using mainly hydrogen and electricity for lower-emission steel in Europe. The reference figure is July's annual rate of 2.9%, up from 2.8% in June, with energy at 10.0% and services at 3.3%; in the European Union the rate stood at 3.0%.
